About Me

Jennifer Wu is a graphic designer based in Melbourne, Australia, working across all media and platforms. Also I have recently just returned to traditional painting. My work and life is largely informed by my passion for popular culture and history through the ages.

Having just completed a Bachelor of Design (Visual Communication), at Monash University in 2009, I am now pursuing my crazy obsession for kitsch, collecting the mundane and all things tasteless as a major studio project in the Bachelor of Visual Communication (Honours) degree this year. (Reckon I’m just trying to justify all those trips to flea markets and garage sales, and scavenging eBay for hours on end for obscure vintage material?)

My love for literature, books and the written word spurs a deeper fascination for typography, type design, publication and editorial design. Apart from making designs and doing what I do best, I hope to write my own fictional novel (likely some post-modern pastiche in the essence of Jasper Fforde). Possibly two, or three. It’s good to have ambitions (!).

I have been a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society since 2008, short-listed for VCE Top Arts 2006 by the National Gallery of Victoria, and had numerous articles published online and on print, notably in Meta Journal, a collaborative publication created by my Monash peers, questioning what design means in our local and broader contexts.
